An evening of eco-friendly fundraising fun with Oyster River Ecology

Your support of the Oyster Rag Pot Shindig directly supports ORE's large-scale oyster and habitat restoration work. Guests will enjoy FRESH LOCAL SEAFOOD and fixings from Gulley's, live bluegrass music, and the opportunity to participate in an oyster rag pot assembly session. We’ve got the permits and have developed a successful and cost-effective oyster restoration method. We're ready to scale up and restore our first 10 acres of oyster reef in the Manatee River, but we need your help! Let’s get the oyster restoration party started!

It's our pleasure to welcome you to the inaugural Oyster Rag Pot Shin Dig, where your presence directly supports ORE's large-scale oyster and habitat restoration work. Bring the whole crew or come meet new friends who share the goal of strengthening the local environment, old Florida style.

  • FRESH LOCAL SEAFOOD, oysters, and all the fixin's from Gulley's Mullet Truck
  • Complementary Beer & Wine Bar by Gold Coast Eagle Distributors {We're looking for a bar sponsor - could be you!}
  • Lively bluegrass from across the pond by the St. Pete Mountain Boys
  • Exclusive silent auction
  • Opportunities to participate in and observe an Oyster Rag Pot assembly session led by ORE volunteers. Getting dirty is optional.
  • No dress code- come as you are

Why Oyster Rag Pots? We've developed a cost-effective method to replenish hard bottom and secured the necessary permits to do so; it's time to scale this thing up, and we need your help. All proceeds of the Shin Dig benefit active restoration projects in the Manatee River and beyond. The oyster rag pots created at the Shin Dig will be installed within 2 weeks of their creation at our 10-acre oyster restoration site in the Manatee River, Eileen Reef. Let’s get the oyster party started and build more than just oyster habitat!

Still wondering what an oyster rag pot is? Check out this video created by Eckerd College students.

We could use a few helping hands on event day. If you are interested in volunteering, please sign up using this link. Volunteers receive free admission and ORE swag.

Don't miss the silent auction! Bid on a variety of auction baskets donated by our friends and family. Check out this link if you would like to donate an item for the silent auction- there's always room for more. All proceeds support the cause.

Big thanks to the Community Foundation of Sarasota County for a grant that helped us plan and organize this fun event!

We look forward to seeing you there!!!
